The EM ECW is a co-operation and mobility scheme in the area of higher education co-operation launched by Europe Aid cooperation Office and implemented by the Executive Agency Education, Audiovisual and Culture.
The Erasmus Mundus External Co-operation Window (EM ECW) objective is to achieve better understanding and mutual enrichment between the European Union and third countries co-operation in the field of higher education through promoting the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills at higher education level. This will be achieved through the promotion of partnerships and institutional co-operation exchanges between European Higher Education Institutions and Third Country institutions and a mobility scheme addressing student and academic exchanges.
The project aims at spin-of activities and sustainable impact. The implementation of the mobility scheme is supported by an strategic national plan: information sessions are to be given within each respective national education ministry, authorities and embassies are widely informed about the project objectives and outcomes, contacts with other universities – ministries – NGOs – public and private associations, counselling sessions for interested applicants, meetings with teaching staff of the involved faculties/departments, regular reports published on the project website, specific actions and strategy to reach Target Groups 2 and 3, regular publications and information sessions for the media (regional and national).
The overall goal is to sustain and maintain a sustainable network and to support the participation of Central Asia in the modernisation of higher education with curriculum development and quality assurance. Supported by a Tempus project, Canqa, particular actions and guidance in the organization of the mobility should guarantee better adaptation of curriculum to the needs of a knowledge-based society. The project fosters likewise inter-human contacts and cross-cultural communication, which should lead to a closer cooperation in sciences and technology, science and education.
